runDisney Race Weekends
The miles are yours. The logistics are mine. Race weekend planning for runners, and a real vacation for everyone cheering them on.
A runDisney race weekend is two vacations in one: a destination race through the parks, and a family trip wrapped around it. That’s also what makes it tricky to plan. Registration sells out fast, host resorts fill around race dates, and a normal park itinerary will wreck your legs before the start line.
I plan runDisney trips for runners and their families, and I know the rhythm of a race weekend: expo day, early bedtimes, corral mornings, the celebration afterward. Tell me your race goal and who’s coming with you, and I’ll build the rest. As always, my planning is free. The travel providers compensate me, not you.

How a Race Weekend Comes Together
Pick the right race weekend
Each runDisney weekend has its own personality, time of year, and distance lineup, from 5Ks the whole family can do together to the marathon and multi-race challenges. The right choice depends on your distance goals and the vacation you want wrapped around them.
Book the trip in the right order
Races sell out fast, sometimes within hours, and the most convenient resorts fill just as quickly around race weekends. So I put your resort room on hold before registration opens. If you get into the race, the room is already waiting. If you don't, you've lost nothing. Knowing what to lock in first, and when each window opens, is most of the battle.
Plan park days that respect race morning
Race starts are early. Very early. I’ll help you plan which parks to visit on which days so you’re not standing in line for eight hours the day before you run 13.1 miles. Park days and resort choices are the same job as any Disney trip — see my Disney page.
Plan around the people cheering you on
Not everyone in the family is running, and their weekend matters too. I'll help you sort out where they can realistically catch you on course, how they get there and back on a race morning, and what fills the hours in between. Character meals, a pool afternoon, a celebration dinner once you have the medal.
Know the expo before you walk into it
Packet pickup, the shirt, the merchandise that sells out in the first hour, and the gear you actually still need. The expo is its own event, and going in with a plan saves you a long afternoon on your feet two days before a race.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can a travel agent help with a runDisney race weekend?
Yes. While runners register for races through runDisney directly, Gina Michak helps with everything around the race: choosing the right race weekend, booking a host resort close to the start line, planning park days that don't exhaust your legs before race morning, and building a real vacation for the family members who are cheering rather than running.
She also helps with timing. Race weekends sell out quickly and popular resorts fill fast, so knowing when to book each piece matters.
Which runDisney race weekend is best for a first-timer?
It depends on your distance goals and the trip you want around it. Each race weekend has its own character, crowd level, and time of year, and some distances sell out faster than others. Gina walks first-time race families through the options and helps match the weekend to the runner's goals and the family's vacation plans.
Does runDisney trip planning through Gina cost anything?
No. Gina's planning service is free. Travel providers compensate her directly, so your resort and tickets cost the same as booking them yourself, and she watches for discounts that can be applied after you book. Race registration is paid to runDisney directly either way.
